Home testing instructions
Thank you for agreeing to take part in the ELSA Study!
Now it’s time to see if you might get type 1 diabetes in the future.
The test is quick and easy and you will feel it only for a few seconds.
Make sure your hands are clean, dry and warm.
The grown-up doing the test with you will press the pricker on the side of your middle finger to get a few drops of blood.
On the card there are 5 circles.
We need a small drop of blood in each circle. Fill up each one as much as you can!
The grown-up will help you with this.
That’s it all done!
Now you need to press the cotton wool against your finger. Hold it there for a minute.
Then you can put a plaster on.
The grown-up will leave the card to dry…and then post it to us for testing.
We will let you and your family know the results in the next few weeks.
